A Workshop for Understanding Neurodivergent Leadership in the Church
What does it mean to be both neurodivergent and called to ministry? In this honest and insightful workshop, Pastor Jesse Briles shares his personal experience of pastoring on the autism spectrum—offering a window into the joys, challenges, and unique gifts that neurodivergent leaders bring to the Church.

Jesse Briles is a 2019 graduate of Nazarene Theological Seminary (MAICS) and has served in a variety of ministry roles, including children’s pastor, camp director, camp speaker, and lead pastor. Jesse currently serves as the Lead Pastor of Lansing First Church of the Nazarene. In 2020, at the age of 33, he was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), a pivotal moment that deepened his commitment to fostering inclusion and support for neurodivergent individuals within the Church. Since then, he has become a passionate advocate for the welcome, integration, accommodation, and empowerment of neurodivergent clergy and laity. In 2021, he co-founded Neurodivergent Clergy, an organization that offers an online support network for neurodivergent clergy and partners with districts and congregations to better support neurodivergent leaders and members.
