How worship and prayer can be accessible to All God’s Children.
We often define prayer as “talking to God.” But what does this definition mean for nonspeakers? What other language or practices might create barriers to inclusion in the life of our churches for autistic, neurodiverse or disabled individuals? In this workshop, we will discuss how to curate a culture of inclusion and belonging in the Church by examining Scripture and our specific contexts to see how Jesus can be truly accessible to All God’s Children.
Stephanie is a Christian Community Development practitioner living in Kansas City, MO with her husband Darryl and two children, Jaidyn (10) and Kian (8). She and Darryl started New Community Church in their home in 2016. New Community now exists as a network of spiritual families across the Kansas City metro. Stephanie serves on the leadership team of New Community and is involved in neighborhood engagement and special education advocacy. She and Darryl are parents to a child with a disability and high support needs which has continued to inform their way of life and ministry. Stephanie enjoys spending time with her family and friends.
