Even if someone else plans the service and leads the music, the most important "worship leader" in the room on Sunday morning is the senior pastor. In addition to their preaching and sacramental ministry, many lead and solo pastors become de facto worship planners, song leaders and liturgists. Correspondingly, in many contexts, worship leaders are no longer just "song leaders" or "ministers of music" - they also play a key pastoral role in the life of the congregation, and may be called upon to preach or teach, conduct weddings, baptisms and baby dedications, provide counseling, and contribute as part of a pastoral team to the overall vision and direction of the church. This workshop is designed to help pastors (re)discover their role as worship leaders, and to help worship leaders understand and embrace their role as pastors.
