Workshop - Preaching as a Crisis of Meaning
2023 Hugh C. Benner Preachers' Conference
•
1h 15m
Most congregational engagement with scripture seems intended to reinforce certitudes and affirm the decisions people have already made in their lives. This seminar seeks to re-conceive preaching as a weekly crisis of meaning through which congregations can allow scripture to challenge those certitudes and decisions—not to patch up our tensions & ruptures, but to widen and trouble them until they effectively call our lives (personally & as a community) into question.
